Serena Wines 1881 has been a family-owned winery since 1881. It is now run by the fifth generation with  Luca Serena at the helm. The vineyards are in Conegliano, right in the heart of the Prosecco region, 31 miles North of Venice and 62 miles South of the Dolomites. The first written document linking Prosecco to this area dates back to 1772.
The region is positioned between the sea and Prealps, which ensures a mild climate and a steady breeze which allow the grapes to dry quickly after it has rained.
The soils have ancient origins, deriving from the raising of sea and lake beds. We find soils here that are made up of conglomerates of rock and sand, containing a lot of clay. In the areas that were unaffected by the glaciers, the soils remained of marine origin, composed of marls and sandstone, not as deep and more porous.
Glera is the main grape variety in the region. For the Più Fizz Vino Frizzante it is complimented by Chardonnay and Garganega.
Serena Wines 1881 is a leading Prosecco house, who started with the launch of the wine keg in 1987. Today they are the leading winery in Italy for wine in keg production.
